But, then you know that millionth time you've talked to that someone, or that hundredth time you've shown up to that event, or that tenth time you've visited that person's house because you knocked on their door with an invitation to your life? It's totally, absolutely worth the awkwardness that was that very first time, because now there is a relationship that didn't exist before. For better (or for worse) it's a relationship that exists now forever. In ministry, it's a relationship that is eternal. And, it's one of the most exciting things there is.
On January 25th, in Fergus Falls, we held our first 2014 Sacred workshop. Many individuals met each other for the first time. I met actors for the first time, and we got a chance to see how these pieces fit together. It was a wonderful opportunity to speak names, to make connections, and to laugh together about...well, the awkwardness of it all. At the end of the night, it just wasn't that awkward anymore. And from this point on, since we now have a unified goal that will carry us to the end of this exciting adventure, we will dread having to say good-bye. Not good-bye in the sense that we will never have a relationship again. No, as I said...these relationships are permanent. But, a good-bye in the same way a stage cast hugs and cries over the final curtain call. The way a missions team laughs and reminisces about moments that won't be relived. The way a family parts for an undetermined amount of time. On January 25th, we became a new family, and we look forward to what God has in store for the members of his Sacred team.
